Within the Life program of the EU, the “Adapt Agricultural Production to climate change and limited water supply” project was implemented, shortly “Adapt2change”, with the aim of building controlled environment greenhouse facilities , with high energy and water savings. The specific project was submitted in 2009 by the TEI of Thessaly professor Alexandros Papachatzis and their collaborators, with the broader goal of formulating a stable solution, facing the challenges created and expected to be created by the phenomenon of climate change.
Following the results of three years of research, some of the positive elements of the findings lie in the higher performance and improvement of product quality, the saving of water, energy and raw materials such as soil conditioners. Greenext Drilling Company was honored to be a part of this project, with its presence in the construction part of geothermal drilling in the year 2012, which laid the foundations for achieving the energy goals.
The greenhouses of the TEI of Thessaly are an example of the possibilities of geothermal energy and at the same time a positive sign for dealing with climate challenges, setting geothermal as a distinguished tool in the agriculture of the future.
